Role Overview:

The job entails providing comprehensive technical support to Qualys Hiring customers across various communication channels, including phone, email, and chat. Candidates are expected to possess a Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience, along with 1-2 years of experience in a technical support role. Preferred qualifications include experience in Vulnerability Management, Web Application Security/Firewall application support, and in-depth understanding of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN infrastructures.

Proficiency in managing common OS services, such as IIS, BIND, Apache, AD, WINS, Samba, and SSH, is essential, along with a strong grasp of contemporary firewall technologies, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Network Vulnerability Scanners. Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical abilities, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, are also required.

Additionally, candidates should be experienced in packet capture review and diagnosis, API support, and scripting languages like Bash, Python, and PowerShell. Knowledge of major web server software, UNIX/Windows web services, and platforms and applications, such as Linux, Windows, Novell, Lotus Notes, and Mac OS, is advantageous.

Desirable qualifications include Oracle and Microsoft SQL knowledge, as well as certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, and CEH. Experience with Customer Support and Development Tools like Salesforce and Jira is preferred. Candidates should be willing to work flexible rotational hours and possess hands-on solid Networking, IT security, and Windows troubleshooting knowledge.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Technical Support Engineer at Qualys Hiring, you’ll be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support to Qualys Hiring customers via phone, email, and chat channels.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving customer issues related to Qualys products and services.
  • Swiftly escalating complex issues to the appropriate team for further investigation and resolution.
  • Documenting customer inquiries and solutions accurately and promptly.
  • Staying updated on the latest Qualys products and services.
  • Collaborating with other technical support engineers and product development teams to enhance the customer experience.
  • Contributing to the development of knowledge base articles and support documentation.
  • Maintaining a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions.

Skills Required:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree, with a preference for majors in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a technical support capacity.
  • Preferred experience in Vulnerability Management and support for Web Application Security/Firewall applications.
  • Profound understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN infrastructures.

  • Knowledgeable about major web server software including IIS, Apache, WebSphere, Tomcat, and WebLogic, as well as UNIX/Windows web services, and diverse platforms and applications like Linux, Windows 2003/2008, Windows NT, Novell, Lotus Notes, and Mac OS.
  • Desirable expertise in Oracle and Microsoft SQL.
  • Highly desirable certifications including CCNA, MCSE, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, and CEH.
  • Experience with Customer Support and Development Tools such as Salesforce and Jira.
